For the record I dont hate it, I like the mix of sweet salty and spicy flavors on a pizza but not more than one slice please.

There is no such thing “Canadian Bacon” in Canada. It is the Americans terrible & lazy take on proper Canadian Bacon, that is really called peameal bacon. It’s the same cut (the back strap of the hog), but instead it’ s brined that coated in cornmeal (typically served on a kaiser bun with mustard ) . The “ Canadian Bacon” that Americans speak of it the back strap prepared like any other bacon.

There’s a local chain that makes their Hawaiian pizza with bacon, ham, and pineapple instead of just ham + pineapple. The really noticeable flavour and sweetness of the pineapple needs that extra salty kick from bacon that you can’t get from ham. However, I like the fact that the pineapple tends to be slightly acidic so that it cuts through all the bread, cheese, and salt.

To be fair, it’s not my first choice but if it’s around I’ll definitely enjoy it.

I never really noticed too many locals ordering it when I lived in Hawaii though. Lots of pizzas with Arugula, smoked chicken, fresh cheeses, locally made BBQ sauce, and your typical Pizza Hut/Dominos pizzas, but Canadian takes on Hawaii, not so much.
